St. Helens climbing permit

  "The Mount St. Helens Institute began selling climbing permits Friday for the upcoming peak season on the mountain. Permits are always required to venture above 4,800 feet on the volcano. We arrived at the base of Quandary Peak around 6:30 a.m. MT to climb the standard East Ridge route.   The trailhead parking fills up fast early in the morning.  We parked along the road which was very easy to find from Breckinridge.
